During my residency with the Kent Cultural Alliance in Chestertown, Maryland, I created Still Here, a body of work exploring the history, presence, and continuity of African American communities in Kent County. Through photography, video, sculpture, and mixed-media collage, I combined archival research, observations of the landscape, and found materials to examine the relationship between place, memory, and identity. The work incorporates objects connected to the Chesapeake Bay, including weathered buoys, oyster shells, and maritime materials, alongside photographs and moving images that reflect the region's layered histories and the enduring presence of Black life.
